Failing battery

I have an HP Pavilion Notebook and the battery is failing or has failed. I did get the message that it was failing, and now it will not charge at all and is working only if plugged in.  I am assuming that it needs to be replaced, but it does not have any model  number to let me know which one to buy. When I checked the hardware [in my Settings , I have W2L32UA#ABA. How can I find which battery to buy or is there something I can do to improve the one I have?

What if?

If the battery has already indicated it is failing / failed, there is likely nothing to be done to "improve" the situation.

"Fat" Battery / Bloated Battery / Swollen Battery – Sealed / Internal Battery

• Swollen battery might be hiding OR there might be evidence that the battery has inflated.  For example, notebook case is warped, touchpad stops working, “odd” bulging near the keyboard.

• If the battery is in a swollen or bloated condition, the battery must be removed from the computer and replaced.  There are no other remedies, tests, or useful options.
