Pavilion 15-cx0510nd
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

2 years ago I bought a HP Pavilion 15-cx0510nd. Tbh, if I knew what I would've bought back then, I would never buy this laptop, despite having a previous good experience with HP. Anyway, can't change that, got to do it with what I have now.

My current question is if anyway that has this laptop, is also experiencing fans that basically never stop spinning and are very loud?

I tried several things to get rid of the noise, trying to adjust settings, but without avail. I tried different kinds of thermal paste, and even bought liquid metal to see if it makes a difference. With the liquid metal, the temperatures stay around the 55°c during 'idle'. During idle (connected to the mains, no charging) the cpu will drop at low as 1.6ghz, and as soon it has something to do, it will boost all the way up to 4 ghz.  Most of the time it will idle around 2.5 ghz/3 ghz.

Without connected to the mains, temps will drop to around 52°c, with an idle speed between 1.2 ghz and 2.5 ghz.

During stresstesting, temps will go up as high as 90°c and CPU will eventually throttle back to 3 ghz. If the GPU is included in the test, the CPU will drop all the way back to 2.3 ghz.

Not too much paste is applied, the coolingfins and fans are clean, drivers up to date etc.

How old is it?

Usually I do apply new thermal paste on the processor each 4-5 years.

The laptop is barely 2 years old and I applied new liquid metal yesterday.

The common problem there is air trap/gap or previous paste is not clean enough, or the quality of paste/liquid metal is not good enough.

True, though looking at the old coolingpaste before cleaning and applying the liquid metal, it did not show any airgaps. I did notice that the temps went down with 5 degrees with the new liquid metal, so I guess I can't do much more than this.

I only wondered if other people had bad thermals or loud fans tho.
