Hi everyone,
I have a Pavilion DV7-6c07ss and it works perfectly, but some weeks ago the CPU fan started to make some noise. I opened it to clean the fan, but the noise didn't disappear.
I would like to replace the fan for a new one. Is there a place where I can buy this component? I would like to make sure that it will be compatible with my Pavilion DV7-6c07ss. Is there an "official" HP store to buy this kind of pieces? I've searched for it but without success.
Thanks a lot,
ANTONI

Based on specs I can find it is this one:
For use only with computer models equipped with an Intel processor and a graphics
subsystem with 1024-MB of discrete memory
666390-001
Unit is much too old for HP to still stock components like this. You have to go into the aftermarket.
Check your cooler against the pictures. Data on this laptop is a bit hard to find now and I am assuming it has Radeon 6490 1 gb video. If that is not true, this is the wrong part. Replacing just the fan can be done and is relatively inexpensive, but not super easy to get the fan reattached to the heatsink. Better (easier) to buy the whole heatsink and fan unit but quite a bit more money.
