Hello, I own an HP laptop that has an issue: the fans are constantly running, and the battery life has drastically decreased. Could you provide guidance on how to resolve this problem?

Hi @LomiFidani
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP laptop's fans are running continuously and the battery life is suffering. This issue could be caused by several factors, such as high CPU usage, insufficient cooling, or battery-related issues. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to address this:
1. Check for High CPU Usage
High CPU usage is a common cause of constant fan activity and reduced battery life. Here’s how to check if this is the issue:
Windows Task Manager:
- Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open the Task Manager.
- Under the Processes tab, check which applications or processes are using the most CPU.
- If any apps are using excessive CPU, try closing them or restarting your laptop to see if that helps.
Fixing High CPU Usage:
- Make sure all apps are closed that you're not actively using.
- Disable unnecessary startup programs by going to the Startup tab in Task Manager and disabling programs you don't need at startup.
2. Check for Background Processes and Updates
- Sometimes, background processes like updates or syncing can cause the fans to run constantly.
- Go to Settings > Update & Security and check if your laptop is downloading updates. Allow any updates to complete, as unfinished updates can sometimes cause the laptop to overheat.
- Look for any background apps (like cloud storage services or third-party apps) that might be using system resources.
3. Check for Overheating
If the laptop’s temperature is high, the fans will run more often to cool it down.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
