Envy 15T
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I've had my HP Envy since Dec 2015 and for the first year or two I noticed the fan would react normally (when laptop heated up fan speed increased, Coolsense would kick the fan on if I wasn't stationary, etc).  But for the last year or so I've realize that I never hear the fan kick on.  It does work because I don't get an error and if I listen closely at the vent I can hear it.  The problem is my laptop heats up pretty quickly and the fan speed never gets higher, so the laptop is always too hot.  I have HP coolsense enabled and the BIOS setting for 'fan always on' is enabled also.  Could my fan be malfunctioning even if I'm not getting the 90B error?

Bottom Cover Remove/Replace starts on page 35.

Use "Canned Air" to clean vents and fan.

While you have it open you could replace the thermal grease???

REO,

I actually just did all that yesterday.  Also, dust buildup should force the fan to kick up more often.  But, I haven't heard the fan kick up in a year or two.  That's really my concern; is there something wrong with the fan that it never kicks up anymore?
