HP Pavilion Aero 13 Laptop PC 13-be2000 (767P2AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi, I recently bought a HP Pavilion Aero Laptop 13-be2xxx with an AMD Ryzen 7 7735U chip with a nice 2560 x 1600 screen.

However, the fan is always spinning and I'm wondering if this is normal. My old notebook has a Ryzen 5 chip, and the fan is rarely spinning at all :(. Also the battery life with Ryzen 5 5600U (or 5500u? can't remember) was double from what I get with this Aero 😞 (I get 5 hours max, more close to 4 than 5).

I have all updates installed. I even have a newer BIOS version than HP offer me on their "drivers" download page (12 is installed).

The task manager is showing 2% cpu usage and the fan won't stop spinning. It's not spinning at high speed, but it is spinning :).

The device is ice-cold everywhere. I know hot notebooks :). This Aero is cool.

I also checked the temperature with hwinfo64:

Perhaps there is something I can do before contacting HP support.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Andreas

I am sorry. I somehow set the gpu to "performance" mode in AMD adrenaline. I set it to "standard", rebooted and the fan stays quiet. The poor battery life is unchanged though, but that's expected (I guess?) due to the size of the battery, though it's something I will definitely take into consideration when I'll buy my next laptop :).

Perhaps the Ryzen 7 7735U combined with the higher resolution display and this tiny battery isn't the best fit. I don't know.

Sorry for the spam :).

Regards,

Andreas
