HP 15 Laptop
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I recently bought a new HP laptop with a Pentium Gold processor (4417U), mainly because it was one of the few new laptops I could find that still had a DVD player/burner.  I had no idea that it would run so slowly compared to my much older laptop, to the point of being almost unusable at times for basic tasks.  Are there any faster processors that I could replace the 4417U processor with, or do I need to start searching again for a new laptop with a DVD player (and faster process)?  Thanks in advance for your help.

What is your machine ? Normally machines with Intel processors ending with U are non up gradable because processors are soldered to the system boards.

You need to replace the whole system board (if available) and this is a very expensive upgrade.
