HP Notebook - 14q-cs0023tu
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi. I have a HP 14q cs0023tu laptop and that's the only computer I have. I edited the registry and managed to install windows 11 on it. Now I was thinking of upgrading the ram. It has a single channel 8gb ddr4 dimm. The dimm itself is 2400mhz but it runs at 2133 mhz. The question that's keeping me awake at nights lately is if I take out the existing dimm and replace it with 2 x 8gb  @ 3200mhz or faster, will it run at a faster rate or will it be limited by the weak 7th gen cpu?

Hi:

Your notebook has two memory slots and can support up to 2 x 8 GB of DDR4-2133 MHz memory.

You can install DDR4-2133 MHz up to DDR4-3200 MHz but anything you install that is a faster speed is going to run at 2133 MHz because that is as fast as your notebook's Intel® Core™ i3-7020U processor can run the memory at.
