I am experiencing a hardware-related issue on my HP Victus 16 RTX 4060 laptop.

The laptop is now out of warranty (expired approximately 1 year ago).

  • HDMI port is completely non-functional (no signal on multiple external displays and cables)
  • External display is not detected at BIOS or Windows level
  • NVIDIA graphics drivers are unstable and cause games like Sea of Thieves to crash.
  • Issue persists after countless driver reinstalls and troubleshooting by professionals
  • Tested multiple HDMI cables and external monitors
  • Verified no output even at BIOS level
  • Confirmed by technicians that issue is hardware-related (not software or driver issue)

All these issues are completely out of the blue. Please advise on repair options for motherboard/GPU-level servicing or replacement. I mostly use the laptop for architecture (I am a student). Not being able to project onto another monitor is really frustrating.

Hi there,

I'm not sure which model it is but most RTX4060 laptops have a USB-C DP slot. I'd prefer that over a HDMI any time any day. If the vga is faulty the laptop wouldn't boot at all. If the HDMI port is faulty then it shouldn't be a cause for a game crash. I'd recommend to create a live usb stick with a linux distribution such as linux Mint and then try the HDMI in the live system environment. There is still a possibility that the issue is the OS and a bad system update that can't be reversed, etc.
