HP Envy m6 1125dx laptop
Microsoft Windows 11

I currently own an HP ENVY m6 1125dx. I upgraded my HDD TO SDD and upgraded the ram as well. I also upgraded my OS from Windows 8 to Windows 11. I currently have Intel (R) HD Graphics 4000. the issue i am having is that my fingerprint sensor is not working anymore even after downloading and installing the correct drivers for my laptop which are.

  • Validity Fingerprint Sensor Driver

  • 4.4.234.0
  • 35.4 MB
  • Sep 24, 2012

I installed and restarted my laptop but still did not work which is strange because on my other similar laptop i got it to work but not this one. i need help figuring out the problem.

also, I am currently on device manager and on the tab other devices I have two unknown sources with exclamation marks.

the first one states: on PCI Express Root Complex-

The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

There are no compatible drivers for this device.

To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver. - Device instant path: ACPI\HPQ0004\3&11583659&0

The second one states: other devices/unknown/ Port_#0004.Hub_#0005

The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

There are no compatible drivers for this device.

To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver

Device Instant path: USB\VID_138A&PID_0018\E67B59F24FA7

I tried clicking update driver and no drivers were found. I tried disabling it then enabling it and still the issue persists. I managed to uninstall one of them and then reinstall it and the same exclamation popped up. please help I have been working on this all day.

Hi:

Here is the link to the driver you need for the ACPI\HPQ0004 device:

HP 3D DriveGuard software

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp64001-64500/sp64144.exe

While you may have run the Validity Fingerprint Sensor Driver, it did not install the device.

On W10/W11 you have to manually install the driver as follows...

Go to the device manager.  Click on the Unknown USB\VID_138A&PID_0018 device needing the driver.

Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update driver.

Select the 'Browse my computer for drivers' option and browse to the driver folder that was created when you ran the Validity Fingerprint Sensor Driver.

That folder will be located in C:\SWSetup\sp58869.

Make sure that the Include subfolder box is checked and the driver should install.

If you deleted the SWSetup folder like I do, download and run the driver again so the folder is re-created.

If Windows Hello doesn't work to enroll the fingerprint sensor, see if the W10 Simple Pass software will work on W11.
