Hey,

I have a big problem with my fingerprint scanner. A while ago, I accidentally changed my password and had to reset my laptop. Then I had to reinstall windows 11 from scratch. Since then, i can't set up my fingerprint scanner. When I press "setup", nothing happens. I tried to install new drivers, but that didn't work.

Does anyone know what to do???

Hi @Figerprint ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your fingerprint scanner issue may be related to either missing or corrupted drivers, or an issue with the Windows Biometric service. Here’s what you can try to resolve the issue:

Check Device Manager:

  • Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
  • Look for Biometric Devices. If the fingerprint scanner is listed, right-click it and select Update driver. If it’s not listed, it might not be recognized, and you may need to reinstall the fingerprint driver.

Reinstall Fingerprint Drivers:

  • Go to the HP Support website and search for your model (HP Pavilion 15-eh0000) to download the latest fingerprint scanner driver.
  • Once downloaded, install the driver and restart your laptop.
  • After the reboot, check if the fingerprint scanner setup works.

Check Windows Biometric Settings:

  • Open Settings (Windows + I).
  • Go to Accounts > Sign-in options.
  • Ensure that Fingerprint recognition is turned on. If it’s already enabled, try disabling and then re-enabling it to reset the biometric service.

Restart Windows Biometric Service:

  • Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  • In the Services window, scroll down and locate Windows Biometric Service.
  • Right-click it and select Restart. If it’s not running, click Start.

Windows Update:

  • Make sure your system is fully updated. Go to Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates to ensure all relevant updates are installed.

Run Windows Troubleshooter:

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters.
  • Run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter to check for any issues with the fingerprint scanner.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
