Elitebook 2570p
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have owned an HP Elitebook 2570p for five years. The optical drive recently stopped opening; neither pushing the button on it nor clicking "eject" from the desktop will open it although it whirs a bit and struggles to open. A paper clip does work to open it, but I am wondering: Is there any way to fix the disc drive to open/close properly without needing a paper clip? If so, can you tell me how to examine and fix it?

I say replace it.

But if you don't mind doing the paperclip way then don't replace it

The copper dome switch is at fault and cannot be repaired.

Thanks. So you're saying that I should either continue to open the optical drive manually or order a completely new drive to install myself?
