Not sure if I'm in the right forum.  I just set up a brand new HP laptop.  Was working fine.  After about an hour, it told me I had to restart in order for the HP BIOS update to download.  I did so, & at the end of the download, I got a notice that said "Flashing Boot Block."  It stayed on my screen for a few minutes and then went away.  Is this normal?

@Violet56,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I reviewed your post and I understand that you have questions related to BIOS.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

Usually, the computer will restart after a BIOS update however, it is not a compulsion. Please check the BIOS version by going to system information and check whether the BIOS is updated to the version you installed.

I recommend you refer to the below article on how to update the BIOS on your computer.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!
