HP Elitebook Folio 1040 G2

Hi!

Is there anyone out there who has tried fitting a M.2 PCIe SSD into a Elitebook Folio 1040 G2? I have searched the manuals and google and found no clear answer, if PCIe SSDs are supported by this notebook or not.

Greets,

Franz

What does that statement mean: Supports M.2 SSD SS 2280

 1) supports only M.2 SATA SSDs

 2) supports only M.2 PCIe SSDs

 3) supports both M.2 SATA and PCIe SSDs

Hi there,

I'd like to know the answer to this question as well.

Hello there,

the HP Folio 1040 G2 does only support M.2 SATA III SSDs.

I try it by myself - Samsung 960 Pro NVMe .... doesn´t work @ this device

HP Recommended

I fitted a NVMe PCIe and although the BIOS did not boot it, it was detected in Linux. I was able to run fdisk and install a Linux distro on it.

hello -- I own an Elitebook 1040 G2 and have it open in front of me.

The M.2 connector has THRE different types.   In addition, the SSD itself has various lengths.

The three M.2 connector types are as follows:

1)   B key

2)  M key

3)  B + M key.

these are NOT interchangeable.   example:  an M key SSD will NOT insert into a B + M slot.

the specific SSD type for this 1040 G2 is as follows:

B + M key with 2280 length.
