Hi @DarkElixir ,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're experiencing FPS issues on your Victus by HP gaming laptop, there are several steps you can take to try and improve performance. Here are some suggestions:

NVIDIA Control Panel Settings:

  • Right-click on your desktop and open the NVIDIA Control Panel.
  • Under "Manage 3D settings," select "Program Settings" and choose Dota 2 from the dropdown menu.
  • Set the "Power management mode" to "Prefer maximum performance."
  • Apply the changes.

Windows Power Plan:

  • Make sure your laptop is set to a high-performance power plan. You can do this by going to "Power & sleep settings" and selecting the high-performance plan.

Update Windows:

  • Ensure that your Windows operating system is fully updated. Sometimes, performance improvements and driver updates are included in Windows updates.

BIOS/UEFI Update:

  • Check the HP support website for your laptop model and see if there are any BIOS or UEFI updates available. These updates can sometimes include performance improvements.

Thermal Management:

  • Check if there is any software provided by HP for thermal management. Sometimes, laptops have pre-installed tools that allow you to adjust fan speeds or power settings for better thermal performance.

Check Background Processes:

  • Make sure there are no unnecessary background processes running that could be consuming resources. Close any unnecessary applications or processes running in the background.

Game Settings:

  • In Dota 2, check the in-game settings and make sure that the graphics settings are appropriately configured. Lowering certain settings, such as shadows or anti-aliasing, can often improve performance.

Temperature Monitoring:

  • Use software to monitor your laptop's temperature during gaming. It's possible that the laptop is not heating up because it's not fully utilizing its resources. Monitoring temperatures can help ensure that it's not a thermal throttling issue.

Check for Game-Specific Optimizations:

  • Some games may have specific settings or optimizations. Check the Dota 2 forums or community for any specific tips related to maximizing performance on your hardware.

Reinstall Graphics Drivers:

  • Uninstall your current graphics drivers and reinstall the latest version from the official NVIDIA website.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.-
