I've hardly used the netbook and have decided to give it away. Before I do that I would like to remove any trace of old documents etc from it.
I thought a factory reset/system recovery may be the quickest and easiest way to do it.
When I turn on the netbook, I keep pressing Esc until the startup menu appears. From this I can select F1 to view system information, but the remaining options (F2, F9, F10 and F11) do not work.
Can someone tell me how to get them working please?
Also, is this is a good way to remove any old files etc before I give the netbook away?

What you're doing is the RIGHT THING prior to giving away, or selling, a PC as it does remove your account and all personal files and settings.
IF I understand what you're saying, you get the text menu but the only function key that it responds to is F1, right?
If you then press F11, does it not work, or does it simply not do anything?
Have you tried rebooting and pressing F11, instead of Esc, to see if that goes directly into Recovery Manager?
If that does not work, then I suggest following the instructions in this link to try to create your own Recovery Media: https://support.hp.com/hr-en/document/c01867124
Let us know how that goes ...

Thank you for your post.
Yes, I just get the text menu and the only key that it responds to is F1. F11 does not do anything, nor do the other function keys.
I'll try rebooting and hitting F11 today and let you know what happens.
Thanks again.

I tried rebooting and pressing F11 rather than Esc several times yesterday, it did absolutely nothing.
I decided to give it another go today and on my fifth attempt, I must have got it just right because it went through to the recovery drive with various radio button options.
As we speak, it is running a Factory Reset.
Thank you for your help.
