Hello. Have a g5 docking station from work. I have 3 displays connected to it however no matter what configuration I do, I can't seem to get them to their proper settings. I have the following"
2 samsung that are 1920x1080 75 hz 1 lg ultramodern that is 3440x1440 160hz.
I can get all 3 to 1920x1080, but the lg will only be 60hz, one samsung will be 60 hz and the second samsung will be 75 hz.
I can get the lg to 3440x1440 60 hz when connected via hdmi, but one of the samsung will be 1280 x 800 50 hz. I'm using the hdmi and dp that came in the boxes.
Any ideas are appreciated. Tia!

Hi @nanduu,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're encountering resolution and refresh rate issues with your HP USB-C G5 Docking Station. Here are a few steps to troubleshoot and potentially resolve these issues.
Update Drivers and Firmware
- Docking Station Drivers/Firmware: Ensure that the latest drivers and firmware for the HP G5 docking station are installed. You can find these on the HP support website.
- Graphics Drivers: Update the graphics drivers on your computer as well. Sometimes issues with resolution and refresh rates are related to outdated drivers.
Check Display Settings
- Windows Display Settings: Go to Settings > System > Display and check if you can adjust the resolution and refresh rate for each monitor individually.
- Advanced Display Settings: In the Display Settings window, click on Advanced display settings to access and adjust the refresh rate for each display.
Cable and Port Configurations
- Cable Type: Make sure you are using the correct cables for each display. HDMI and DisplayPort cables can have different specifications, and some may not support higher resolutions or refresh rates.
- Port Capability: Verify that the docking station’s ports support the resolutions and refresh rates you are trying to achieve. Sometimes, different ports have different capabilities (e.g., some DisplayPort versions may support higher resolutions and refresh rates than others).
Monitor Settings
- On-Screen Menu: Check the settings on each monitor itself through its on-screen menu to ensure they are configured to the correct resolution and refresh rate.
Docking Station Limits
- Resolution and Refresh Rate Limits: Some docking stations have limits on the total bandwidth they can handle, which can restrict the resolutions and refresh rates of multiple connected monitors. Check the specifications of your HP G5 docking station to ensure it can support your current setup.
Try Different Combinations
- Isolate Monitors: Connect each monitor individually to see if you can achieve the desired settings with just one monitor at a time. This can help identify if a specific monitor or connection is causing the issue.
Docking Station Ports
- Mix of HDMI and DP: If you are using a mix of HDMI and DisplayPort, ensure that you are connecting the monitors to the appropriate ports that can handle the higher resolutions and refresh rates.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
