pavilion g6
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Albeit upgrading the BIOS to the latest Insyde f .2a system will not recognise any SSD drive.  BIOS can't see the drive

Note there is no issue with traditional hdd drives.  Tried cloning HDD, clean install of Win 10 & win 7.  System can see the SSD when connected via USB

All comes down to the fact that the BIOS won't recognise any SSD.

Will HP do anything?  Or even provide s asource of drivers taht could be used in a clean install, but not confident that would work as I think it is basically a BIOS issue.

Come on HP please resolve.  I know I'm not alone

Hi@robmar0se, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Hence the Operating system and Product are obsolete it's the end of support life and SSD is not compatible as said combination is not tested by HP. So, the functionality is not guaranteed.

HP Pavilion G6 Notebook PC Maintenance and Service Guide refer to page 11.link

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Thank you for clarifying HP's position

I make the following comments:

1. To declare a 7 year old laptop as obsolete  in socially unacceptible.

2  SSD technology was incorporated in Windows 7 which predates this laptop by 5 years

3. HP does sell a huge volumer of consumer laptops, but generally is recognised as having a poor reputation for quality

4. Users have been reporting issues with SSD's with this model for at least 3 years, but HP has closed its mind to  correcting an issue which, maybe with hindsight, was a mistake.

5. Reason  why I wont be buying  or recommending HP products going forward

Hi@robmar0se,

I'm afraid there is HP will not able to combination confirmed, Due to Windows 7 obsolete and this note is not compatible with windows 10 and there no option to download windows 7. in case of any issue with the operating system ISo HP will not able to help.

We understand Technology development is fast, HP follows the global standard

Unfortunately, as usual with HP, you are incorrect.

1. I was merely pointing oput that the SSD technology was first included with Windows 7.

2. The G6 was l;aunched with Windows 8.1 which you should know is still supported.

So in fact HP is not meeting the globsal standard!!

It is incomprehensible that a major player sucj as HP l;aunches systems that fail to meet technolgy standards.

By any standrad this is poor, and commonly referred to as a "cop-out".

HP should be producing systems with at least a 10 year life cycle as standard.
