G60-441US
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hello, I acquired an HP  model G60-441US laptop and am wondering  what CPU models this laptop can be upgraded with. The laptop has the Intel GL40 chipset with a Pentium T4200. I am just looking to upgrade the CPU on the cheap to squeeze a bit more performance out of the old machine. After some research i found this model was only offered with a T4200 from factory. I additionally found the Compaq Presario CQ60 Notebook PC HP G60 Notebook PC Maintenance and Service Guide where I have found the HP G60 intel UMA with GL40. However it does not list the T4200 as a supported processor so I am unsure if this is the correct document.

If this is the correct document does that mean the T5900 is the best 800mhz FSB CPU and the T9500 the max overall CPU this laptop can support? Or am I stuck to the 800mhz FSB as I remember reading some information about the 1066mhz CPU's not always working correctly with the GL40 chipset?

Thanks

Hi:

The fastest speed FSB processor you can install in the GL40 chipset is one with an 800 MHz FSB.

A processor with a 1066 MHz FSB will not work.

This would be the correct service manual...The T5900 processor would be the best one you can upgrade to according to the manual.

Since the T9500 also has an 800 MHz FSB, that one may work as well but no guarantees.

It is in a different processor family than the T5900 (Penryn vice Merom).
