Pavlion G6-1040ev

Hello! My laptop's (HP Pavilion G6-1040ev) GPU cable has been disconnected and the laptop is using the CPU graphics instead (which results in overheating). May you tell me ( or put a video link with instructions) how to reconnect my GPU cable back again so my laptop stops using the intel HD graphics, please (I would appreciate it)?

@JimKalog,

I reviewed your post and I understand that the computer is overheating and using the Intel HD graphics.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

Did you open the laptop and checked that the GPU cable is disconnected?

What is the operating system you are using?

Below is the service guide for your computer and there are no instructions to remove the graphics card from the computer. Usually, on laptop the graphics card will be soldered onto the motherboard and there will be no option to remove or reseat the graphics card.

For the overheating system, I recommend you update the BIOS and the graphics driver from the below link and check if it hleps.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

Hello. I already had updated the BIOS and also I am a windows 7 home premium 64 bit user. I mistakenly told you that the gpu was disconnected. I meant the power cable was disconnected. May you reply with another solution please? (I am going to mark you answer as the solution)

@JimKalog,

Please refer to the service guide I have listed in my previous post, it has all the steps to remove/replace all the components of the computer.

Cheers!
