Hi,
My laptop spec as below:
HP Pavilion DV6 - Product number: LN346PA
2Ghz intel i7 2630QM
8GB RAM - added another slot of 4GB RAM
AMD Radeon HD 6770M (1 GB DDR5) - stock GPU
750 GB SATA (5400 rpm)
As I checked online, the AMD Radeon HD 6770M GPU have an MXM-3.0a slot. Appreciate if you could advise if this laptop's GPU do use the MXM-3.0a slot or it is soldered to the mainboard. As the CPU for this laptop is capable to do what I need, I plan just to upgrade the GPU in order for me to do graphical work that will need a higher spec of GPU rather than buying a new workstation (which will be more costly than upgrading the GPU).
Thank you in advance.

Hi,
The Maintenance and Service Guide lists each mother/system board for each model of video card (on page 85). This implies the video card is soldered to the motherborad. Therefore you have to buy the whole set and this may cost a lot more than your thought.
Hope this helps.
