HP Pavilion Gaming 15 - dk0068wm
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

So recently i have been trying to find parts to upgrade my computer such as storage, memory, and graphics. I learned that some laptops have MXM GPU cards that allows you to switch out the graphics card from the motherboard and put in another on of your choice. I was wondering if my laptop (HP Pavilion Gaming 15 - dk0068wm) could have it's GPU switched out for a better one, and if not, which other computers, if available, do you have that feature MXM.

The specs of your machine is

          https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c06401026

It ONLY has Integrated Intel® UHD Graphics 630 and you can not swap out or upgrade it. Actually you can't replace nearly all machines with MXM video cards, you have to buy new System Board for your machine (if available).

Actually, some how the above specs is missing, your machine actually has  NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 with 3-MB discrete memory BUT as I say above, you can't replace / swap out the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 card.

If you wish, you have 3 options to upgrade:

  • NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1660Ti with 6-MB discrete memory
  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 with 4-MB discrete memory
  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 with 4-MB discrete memory

to buy new System System board from a list on page 56 of the following manual

             http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06377664.pdf

That means you have to buy

   (a) New motherboard,

   (b) New CPU/Processor,

   (c) New GPU,

   (d) New Windows license (you can't re use old license)

Because all above 4 components are on one piece of hardware called System Board.

For the last question, Pavilion Gaming machines are the babies of HP Omen machines. For a serious gamer, please buy HP Omen There are many around from HP or from retailers.

Regards.
