HP Pavilion 16 inch Laptop PC 16-af0000 IDS Base Model

I recently purchased an HP Pavilion laptop 16t-af000.  It has a Synaptics Touchpad which I cannot get use to. It is extremely sensitive no matter which Windows Touchpad sensitivity I set it at.  I continuously open multiple copies of something when I click the lower left conner of the touchpad or open other apps when moving my hands over the touchpad.  I spent over 2 hours on the phone with HP support but they were no help in solving the issues I am having with the touchpad.  My wife has basically the same laptop (has a different Itel processor) and I tried her laptop to verify that the touchpad in my laptop was not defective.

My previous laptop, HP Envy also had a Synaptics Touchpad which worked ok for me.  It had a lot more options for touchpad settings to include the ability to change touchpad regions, click sensitivity, etc. I tried installing the touchpad driver from the Envy laptop (Windows 10) in the Pavilion laptop (Windows 11) but got a message that it is not compatible with the Pavilion laptop.

Is there a “generic” driver I can install that would allow me to better adjust the touchpad to my preferences.

I appreciate any advice forum members can provide.
