HP Spectre x360 15-df0002na 4K UHD Convertible Laptop
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I have a query and I'm looking for help regarding power adaptors for my HP Spectre laptop. I recently purchased a genuine HP charger/power adaptor from the online store here to go with my recent HP Spectre laptop purchase that was complaining under Windows 10 that the unofficial charger I was using was not genuine and was causing the computer to run in a low-performance mode. Since purchasing the official charger I've noted that it's still complaining that it's not an official HP charger and won't recognise it as such. Is there anything I can do about this? The sales representative claimed the recommend power adaptor was compatible with my laptop model and having just spent £70 on something new that behaves just like the old £20 one I purchased through Amazon, I'm disappointed.

Thanks for your help, recommendations, ideas or suggestions.

This is a bit more expensive but exactly what you need with UK power cord.

I also do not know why the HP person steered you wrong I am just telling you he/she did and you will continue to have problems until you get a 135w adapter. If I were you I would call HP and cite them to the part number in the manual I have provided you and the fact that it is 135w not 90 and see if HP will not send you the correct adapter in exchange for the one they sold you erroneously.

That charger is "compatible" but not original it is a charger designed to work with a broad range of HP laptop and that is why it has 3 separate tips to choose from.

That is a 90w adapter and yours originally came with a very powerful 135w adapter.

On my experience you really need the 135w adapter and I would try to return the 90w adapter as is it inadequate for your needs.

Hello,

Thanks for your answer and the suggested adaptor version/voltage, the whole point of buying an HP power adaptor from them was to get rid of the low-performance warning on my laptop for not using one of their branded adaptors. I can't understand why one of their sales or technical people would recommend that I purchase an inadequate or unsuitable product. The laptop didn't originally come with any adaptor which is why so far, I've purchased two separately. I would, however, need one with a British standard 3 pinhead.

Kind regards,
David

Thank you for the follow-up and link, I've contacted them to see why they can do for me. It does make them look bad in my opinion when their user community knows more than the people selling their equipment do.

These are people who sit in a cubicle, are paid very modest wages and handle lots and lots of calls. You have to give them a little leeway. We have the luxury of not doing this  for a living and taking all the time that's needed.
