hp pavilion g6-1001ev
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I own a kind of old laptop(hp pavilion g6-1001ev) and I need to buy an ac adapter plus a new keyboard. The battery I've bought recently is a generic compatible one.
I've found two ac adapters(one genuine, one generic) and two keyboards as well(one genuine, one generic).
Both generic products are  cheaper. Therefore, considering the fact that my computer is old, wouldn't be wiser to buy generic products?
Are generic spare parts going to last way less than genuine ones?

Thank you in advance.

OK @Leo235

The difference between genuine parts and no-genuine parts seems to be 30 Euros

So, in my opinion, it depends on how much you use the notebook. If you use a lot and/or work on it, I would go for genuine parts, as you can be sure that the ac adapter is good and specific which means it will last. The keyboard will also be designed exactly for your model.

If it is a computer you use lightly or rarely you could go with the cheaper parts.

Hope it helps,

David

obvious question, what is the difference in price?

No need for thumbs up or other farcical deeds.

Hi,

I would purchase generic as long as they are high quality products. Check if there are any reviews of other users on the site.

On page 52 of service manual you can see how to replace the keyboard:

Prices are:
generic keyboard=19euros
genuine keyboard=25euros
generic ac adapter=22euros
genuine ac adapter=46euros

plus a refurbished(genuine) ac adapter I looked into today=16euros

Unfortunately there aren't any reviews.I've found the generic keyboard in a local store for spare parts and it has plenty of positive reviews as a store and its products in general.

As for generic ac adapter it looks exactly as an hp one and the owner of the store(different from the above-mentioned one) claims to be genuine. It's not a hp authorized reseller, however when I warned him that I'm going to check the QR code as described here https://support.hp.com/za-en/document/c05307539 and return it if it's not genuine, he answered ''no problem''.

Regarding keyboard it's no longer sold from hp(at least the spare part code I'm looking for black colour,greek/usa layout) but I found it in an hp authorized part reseller in stock.

Genuine keyboard, generic adapter I would go for and refurbished I never touch, if I haven't fixed it myself that is. ;D
