Hello
How can I tell if my HP Pro X2 612 G2 device has built-in GPS sensor?
How can I turn it on?
What driver or software do I need to install?
The only driver available on HP site for that model is uBlox GNSS with description stating that it is for "USB standalone GPS sensors". So not for builtin devices.
Even when I try to install it I'm getting this message in the log:
INFO: No matching devices found in INF "C:\WINDOWS\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\ubloxsensorgps.inf_amd64_ed3a177fb50de41c\ubloxsensorgps.inf" on the Machine.
INFO: No drivers installed. No devices found that match driver(s) contained in 'C:\WINDOWS\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\ubloxsensorgps.inf_amd64_ed3a177fb50de41c\ubloxsensorgps.inf'.
INFO: RETURN: DriverPackageInstallW (0xE000020B)
INFO: No matching device was found for 'c:\x2612g2-gpssensor\usertemp-ubxusbwinsensor\ubloxsensorgps.inf'. Driver will be installed when plugged in.
INFO: Returning with code 0x100
There is no option to turn the device on/off in BIOS.
There is no uknown devices in device manager.
BIOS version - latest (1.14)
Windows 10 version - 1709
Please help.

Hi,
Most likely you do not have the GPS module in the PC. It is an optional module and not available if there is a WWAN module installed (Mobile Broadband) it . However the WWan module will also include GPS unless you have the "Fibocom HP hs3210 WW HSPA+ without GPS +M.2 with antennas" module.
Since the drivers are not installing and the device is not visible in your system it is probably not present. You can see this in this document under networking:
https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-pro-x2-612-g2/14432855/document/c05385118
and on page 41 of service manual:

Thank you.
It turned out that the original piece of HP X2 device we received for tests is not equipped with GPS sensor (nor WWAN). Part number: L5H58EA
Once we tested on a device that we received later (part number: 3DW71EP) - everything was working fine.
