I really need to get rid of the non HP battery error 605 at startup.  I don't have the patience to search the internet for a second day trying to find a way to stop it. HP 650 G5 Probook. I've never had this problem with a battery before and I've worked on a LOT of HP laptops.

Non-HP Battery Detected (605)
The issue occurs because the BIOS embedded controller fails to read the battery information correctly.

You could try resetting the embedded controller to see if that resolves it.

I suggest updating the BIOS.
Start with the oldest previous BIOS version.

Thanks for your reply Erico. I've tried updating the bios a couple of times.  I tried resetting the controller with both windows key + b and v but that doesn't seem to do anything. I've tried running the battery dead then recharged to 100% but that didn't work. Usually there is a fix online somewhere for this sort of thing but I've found nothing. I've been working on HP laptops for 4 years and this is the first time I've had to ask a question here. This has me stumped.

I can understand the frustration.

The only reliable fix I know of was in a BIOS update for a different laptop.

I have asked HP Sub Matter Experts assist on this.
