Hi @Mc976,

Welcome to HP Forums, this is a great place to get support, find answers and tips, Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂

As I Understand the laptop is plugged into the adapter/charger but it doesn't charge or power on anymore,

Don't worry, though, as I have a few steps listed below that should help you resolve this concern:

Unplug the charge and use the laptop until the battery drains to 15%.

Turn off the laptop and turn it back on after 30mins.

Reinstalled Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery under device manager,

Restart the computer and the issue should be fixed.

Also, Go through them all and let me know what you have determined is causing the issue. The first document has the most relevant troubleshooting if your battery appears to be not charging.

I would suggest please update the BIOS on your PC and check if it helps.

Also, download and install HP support assistant on your PC. It should automatically download and install the latest updates and drivers for your PC.

So I have done the update on my bios and nothing happened I will try everything else above.  My computer currently only charges when it is turned off.  When I use the hp support to diagnose the battery it says the battery is fine and that it is plugged into a/c power but not not recieving a charge.

I have done all of the system checks and it appears to be the adapter.  Thank you for your help.  I just now have to order the part as I am no longer under warranty.

Superb job on trying the different steps to isolate the issue.

Yes using a new adapter should fix this issue.
