Hi! @Cannius75, Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues with help from the community!

I understand when you play games on your PC the fan on your laptop is very noisy.

Don't worry I'll try to help you out.

Did you make any software or hardware changes on your laptop?

Try updating the windows to the latest version and check if it helps.

Try restoring the BIOS to default.

1.    Turn off the computer and wait five seconds.
2.    Press the Power button to start the computer and repeatedly press the F10 key to enter the BIOS setup menu.
3.    On the BIOS Setup screen, press F9 to select and load the BIOS Setup Default settings.
4.    Press F10 to Save and Exit.
5.    Use the arrow keys to select Yes, then press Enter when asked Exit Saving Changes?
6.    Follow the prompts to restart your computer.

Try updating the BIOS, Graphics and thermal framework drivers on your PC.

To properly ventilate the computer, allow at least 7.6 cm (3 in) of clearance on the left side
of the computer. The computer uses an electric fan for ventilation. The fan is controlled by a temperature
sensor and is designed to turn on automatically when high-temperature conditions exist. These conditions
are affected by high external temperatures, system power consumption, power management/battery
conservation configurations, battery fast charging, and software requirements. Exhaust air is displaced
through the ventilation grill located on the left side of the computer.

Lastly, try running a system diagnostics test on your PC and check if the hardware components on your PC are functioning correctly.

H Mr Robot,

thank you for the answer. I have followed the steps described by you, unfortunately with no luck. I now get a dB reading at 92.5 at a max and an avg. of 80 dB when playing Heroes and Generals.

After performing the steps described, I tried to update the Nvidia driver to the latest version and even lower the in game graphics settings, but still no luck.

At "non-gaming" use, the computer is almost silent (apart from the normal "breathing") and it seems the noise and heat starts to take off when the second fan kicks in.

Please help!

As you mentioned the issue still persists after trying out the steps.
