Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I have a 2012 HP Pavilion d6 that I love, recently had to restore to factory settings. Was not able to reinstall windows 10, and today I got an error message that my hard disk was failing. Error code Q0F801-677A32-QFPK1F-60B503.

 

Is there a way to fix this or do I need to replace?

 

Also how can I reinstall window 10? I had on this PC before the factory reset..

Hi:

 

The error code reported, Hard Disk 1 SMART Hard Drive Detects Imminent Failure, means the hard drive is about to fail, or has failed, needs to be replaced, and the operating system reinstalled.

 

Below is the link to the service manual, where you can find the hard drive removal and replacement procedure.

If you don't need a lot of disk space, you can buy a better performing, normally more reliable 2.5" solid state drive of 500 GB or less capacity for less than $70.

 

You can reinstall W10 for free by making a bootable W10 USB installation flash drive using the media creation tool at the link below.

If you are asked to enter a product key during the installation process, select the 'I don't have a product key' option, and W10 will install and automatically activate once you are connected to the internet.
