My laptop has the WDC PC SA530 SDASN8Y-256GB-1006 with 238.47GB space .. this is called Drive C: Windows
I have had to delete quite a few programs I had on it, because I ran out of space to install updates for the laptop and for Windows...
Is there a replacement drive that I can buy to replace this drive with a larger capacity.
Or can I set up my laptop so all programs I add can go to Drive 😧 Data which has 931.51 GB storage space... I'm having issues with this
small drive as Drive C: Windows...
My Drive D is WDC WD105 PZX-60Z10TO
Are these interchangeable so can use the larger one for the Windows and system files instead of on the small one...
Thanks, Barbara

The C: drive is a solid state drive and is much faster than your other d: drive which is just an old school mechanical spinning hard drive. You can only run the OS and apps from the C: drive. Only plain data, not any system or application operational files can be placed on D:. So if you have really filled up 256 gigs with just Windows and apps you do need to install a larger capacity SSD and move your data to it (clone).
The SSD you have now (256 gig) is a SATA 2280 form factor M.2 ("gumstick") SSD and can be replaced with a capacity as large as you can find on the market (2 TBs are commonly sold). You can use EITHER a SATA M.2 OR a much faster class of SSD called NVME. Example:
This would work:

You can use all users data/files on 😧 and keep ONLY system + programs on C:
1. Assign default users files/data to 😧 (or drive(s) on other physical drive)
https://www.ghacks.net/2019/10/14/how-to-change-the-default-save-location-in-windows-10/
2. Move existing users files/data to 😧
From now on, all users files/data will automatically go to 😧
Regards.

I only have Windows operating system and programs on C drive... I have deleted most of my games now and still only have 13GB free on the drive... I have all my data on Drive D that has the MOST free space.. I keep most things on an external drive.. I keep running out of free space when the Windows does an update, or my antivirus does an update....
Do you know what drive would replace the WDC PC SA530 SDASN8Y-256G-1006 that HP put into this laptop?
I would like to put in at least a 512GB drive for my C drive... I need free space for updates to windows and my
anti-virus program...
OR, is it possible to take the data D drive and put the windows system and all programs on it and change the Drive to be Windows C:/ and then change the drive C to be Drive D? is that possible... then I wouldn't have to buy another drive
and change out the C drive... my 2nd drive (D) is WDC WD105 PZX-60Z10TO I have used only 35GB on it and I have used 223GB on drive C My drive C is only 237GB so have only 14GB free for updates and all... The other day it was down to 1.5GB free and I had to delete more programs from it. I don't know why HP built a laptop with a small amount of drive space for Windows Operating system... it is causing me much problems...
Thanks much

FYI I got the SSD drive you had the link to from Amazon... The man at the computer shop said something about being a different type technology or something... not an exact replacement.. It will work in the laptop but cannot clone from the old SSD to the new one...Everything has to be loaded onto it manually... Just thought I would let you know so if anyone
wants to do the same thing.... this SSD suggested works, but have to load everything on it manually

I got the drive that is listed above.. the Crucial P2 but I got the 1TB instead of the 2TB..
Crucial P2 1TB 3D NAND NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD Up to 2400MB/s - CT1000P2SSD8
the old drive is WDC PC SA530 SDASN8Y-256G-1006 .. The computer repairman was trying to clone my old
SSD and move it to the new one and it wasn't letting him do it... He tried it several times and didn't work... He's done
these things before but couldn't get this one to work... so he had to load my operating system onto the new SSD
manually and some programs back for me and I will have to finish loading programs when I get it back...
