Exactly. To clone from SATA M.2 to NVME M.2 you need a more expensive type adapter. The NVME SSD will fit in the simpler adapter but it will not work.

Thanks...  I will give him this information..  But for now, I'll be loading all my programs back this afternoon... He has

the Windows loaded on it and a few programs that he could download for me... 

     I ordered the recommended SSD and didn't know they were different when it came to cloning... and that

wasn't mentioned.. so I had no idea

HP Recommended

The one you got is much faster than the old one so there is that. Be sure to install HP Support Assistant and get all your drivers and such. A lot of techs leave out that step.
