Operating System: Microsoft Windows 11

My HP Laptop [17-by0019ds]  hard drive has failed. If I by a new hard drive how do I recover the windows version?

You have 2 options

 

   1. Using HP Cloud Recovery tool:   https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_4511095-4511141-16
   2. Using a clean install using Microsoft latest version:   Create installation media for Windows

 

I prefer option 2 which gives me a fresh start. In both cases, Windows will activate itself using product key embedded is BIOS.
