Is my HP 15-DW2XXX PC compatible with 1TB m.2 ssd drive, can I use both the HDD and M.2 drives?

Probably, but I can't say for sure since all of the notebooks with the Intel 10th gen core processors that came with M.2 SSDs were all NVMe.

That's because NVMe SSDs are considerably faster than SATA SSDs.   Up to 5x faster

Additionally,  should I buy a SATA or NVME M.2 SSD drive?

What is the product number of your HP 15-DW2000 model series PC?

You can find your PC's product number by clicking on the search icon on your Windows taskbar.

Type: System Information

The System information app should show up.

Run the app and the product number of your PC will be found on the System SKU line about 1/4 of the way down on the report.

Post the product number you see there.

Your notebook has two memory slots and can support up to 2 x 16 GB of DDR4-2666 CL19 memory.

You can also use DDR4-3200 CL22 memory which will automatically bridge to 2666 MHz.

Since your notebook has an Intel 10th generation core processor, the M.2 slot supports NVMe SSDs.

You can use a SSD with the HDD but you will have to remove Windows from the HDD and use it for storage only or the notebook will always want to boot from the hard drive and not the SSD.

HP only has the service manual for the original 15-dw0xxx model series available but it should be of help to you for opening up the notebook do perform the upgrades.
