Recently, I bought a new SSD for my laptop (HP 15-BA029AX). I intended to use the SSD as my primary drive while still using the HDD in CD-ROM Caddy for storage only. The problem is, my laptop won't detect the HDD and I cant find out why. My laptop can boot just fine just using my new SSD (I do a clean windows 10 install on it), but if I insert the caddy with my old HDD on it my laptop stuck with blackscreen and backlight on (If this happened I can't even get onto bios). The Caddy should be working fine, I tested it in my friend laptop (lenovo) and it run just fine. The connector on the motherboard is also working and I'm able to use my CD-ROM when I plug it back in. The HDD also able to connect to my laptop just fine when I use my SATA to USB cable. I've been trying to figure what's wrong for a few days and unable to find the solution. Please help

Welcome to HP support community.
There is no dual storage option in this notebook.
Any other configuration may or my not work, hp doesn't recommend or support such upgrades, however, you may upgrade at your own discretion, and if you need assistance with the hdd connected to the CD-rom caddy, please check with a local tech store.

I hope that helps.
