NOTE:  Pulldown menu would not allow me to select Desktop....  Defaults to Notebook...

I have installed the HP Display  Control app but when I select the HDMI input  nothing happens.  input source and cable work OK on other monitor.

Hi Irwin6,

I appreciate the feedback.  I tried all of the suggestions, swapping laptops, monitors, HDMI cables, sources much to spouse's chagrin (was watching Heartland).

I had not tried checking HDMI out to see if there is a possible hardware failure but due to the age of the device it becomes inevitable.

Hi @ChetBagel1999,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to assist you.

It sounds like you're having trouble getting your HP Pavilion All-in-One to recognize the HDMI input. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

Check Input Source: Make sure you are correctly selecting the HDMI input in the HP Display Control app. Sometimes the app can be a bit finicky, so double-check that you’re on the right setting.

Restart Devices: Try restarting both the All-in-One and the device connected via HDMI. This can often resolve connectivity issues.

Cable and Connection: Since you mentioned the cable works on another monitor, ensure it’s securely connected to both the All-in-One and the other device. Try using a different HDMI port if available.

Display Settings: On your connected device, ensure it’s set to output to the HDMI port. This might involve changing display settings or duplicating/extending the display.

Update Drivers: Make sure all your drivers are up to date, particularly the graphics and display drivers. You can check for updates through the HP support website or the Device Manager in Windows.

go to Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and select Check for updates. If the upgrade is available for your device and you want to proceed, download and install it.

Try a Different Device: If possible, connect a different HDMI source to the All-in-One to rule out issues with the original device.

Uninstall the app: Uninstall and reinstall the HP display control app.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a great day ahead!
