Your memory slots are already filled with 2 x 8 gig DDR4-2666 SO-DIMM. Max possible is 32 gigs which would be a pair of 16 gb modules. Very few users actually need to go beyond 16 gigs, however. HP supplies memory that runs at the fastest possible speed so you can install DDR4-3200 SO-DIMM but it will run at -2666 speed and you can install gaming memory with faster timings but it will downclock to run at OEM speed. So if you want to install 32 gigs just get ordinary memory like Crucial, hynix.

The PCie/NVME interface is PCIe Gen. 3. Your fastest option is going to be something like a Samsung Evo 970 or 970 Pro. You can get up to close to 3500 mbps transfer speed which is very very fast.
