It might be useful to lubricate the hinge as I suspect that caused the problem.
This discussion is about using a toothpick to lubricate a MacBook hinge.
Or just do a general search

I notified a moderator. Some newer laptops can have the hinge repaired by HP even if out of warranty.  Also depends on the location and model

Hi @abel-007,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I completely understand how it must feel to deal with a cracked laptop case and hinge issues, especially when it seems like a design flaw rather than something you caused. Even though your warranty has expired, the best step forward would be to reach out to your nearest HP authorized service center. They’ll be able to assess the hinge problem properly, and in some cases, they may offer repair options depending on the situation.

To ensure your device receives the appropriate care, we recommend visiting an authorized HP service center. Our certified technicians can provide a thorough diagnosis and offer the best solutions to address the issue.
