Can someone tell me if this laptop has a M2-SATA port for an SSD drive? I've read conflicitng answers.
Also, in my attepmt to replace the 500 GB drive with an SSD sata drive, the ribbon cable attachement broke. (the small one). Is is possible to get a replacement anywhere?
Thanks

It does not have an M.2 port as such. It can use a SATA M.2 as the storage disk but only by using a special adapter board which fits the M.2 into the same bay as you would use for a 2.5 inch hard drive. See page 56 of the Service manual here:
So if you already have a 2.5 inch SATA SSD that would work just as fast in this case as a SATA M.2 disk and it sounds like all you need to get the 2.5 inch SATA SSD working is the hard drive cable that runs from the hard drive board to the zif connector on the motherboard.

HP has it in stock in the Parts Store for the outrageous price of $41:
$25 on amazon.com:
$5 for the brackets and cable on eBay:
Post back with any other questions and please accept as solution if its the info you needed.

Thanks for the quick response. Here is my situration. I was changing the 500 GB drive for an SSD and one of the 2 internal ribbon cables came off so know drive is found. There are 2 ribbon cables. The little clip that holds the ribbon cable broke off and is lost so I cannot connect it to the SSD. I still have the ribbon cables but the won't attach correctly.
Is there a part number that includes the clips to fasten the ribbon cables (or just the smaller one) into the disk?
Will the M.2 adapter connect to the motherboard using the same connection cables as the 500 GB drive? (i..e will I have the same issue with the adapter that I'm having with the sata drive)
Thanks so much!!
