HP Envy 13-ah0003na laptop. Is the power lead between the charger and the laptop detachable at the charger end?  It looks as if the connection is a proper plug and socket but I'm reluctant to pull too hard to see if the lead disconnects from the charger.

The safest way to wrap it if you are travelling would be as indicated in the picture above and it won't get damaged.

You cannot disconnect the cord which connected the AC Adapter brick to the Notebook.

Welcome to HP Support Community

Yes you can disconnect the Power Cord from the Ac Adapter brick and they should come apart as 2 separate parts.

If you are not facing any Power issue with the AC Adapter or Notebook, it is not required to separate the power cord and adapter

Hope this helps

Thanks Krazy Toad.  Let me be absolutely clear.  I want to disconnect the cord between the adapter (secondary) output and the laptop input, as well as the cord between the power supply and the adapter (primary) input.  The reason I want to do this is to make it easier to carry the two cords when I travel i.e. I want to separate both the primary and the secondary cords from the adapter and pack the two cords and the adapter as three separate items in my case.  If the secondary cord (adapter output to laptop input) is non-detachable at the adapter end (as shown in your photograph), it means I have to, somehow, wrap it around the adapter and that's both inelegant and could damage the adapter end of the cord. Capiche?

The adapter supplied by HP for the Envy 13 laptop is not the same as shown in your photo, KrazyToad.  The secondary-side cable exits the adaptor along the side, not vertical to it:

The connection looks to be a plug and socket connection and that, therefore, the cable plug can be disconnected from the adapter socket but, as I said, I am reluctant to exert any force to try to separate the cable from the adapter.  I guess I'll have to wrap the cable as shown until I get a definitive answer for this particular HP adapter.

No.

The connection is not removable.

You can carry spare power plugs, as I do when travelling between the US and Europe, but the cable and plug connected to the power adapter between the power adapter and the notebook must not be separated. If you pull it apart it will be broken and unuseable.

Thanks, Erico.  It's as I suspected.  Fortunately, I didn't try to separate the lead from the charger.
