HP 13-d020nd
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

Recently, I upgraded the SSD of my HP 13-d020nd notebook (bought in 2016) from the standard Liteon 256 GB M.2 SSD to a 500 GB  Samsung 860 EVO SATA M.2 2280 supporting TLC. It works perfect and it should be compatible with the motherboard, but after the SSD upgrade the CPU is badly overheating, reaching 87 degrees celcius and the fan is louder than normal. There are no software issues though. I am afraid the overheated laptop wil affect many parts of the latop. Does anyone have any suggestions? Are there specific ways to lower the heating? Interestingly enough, I never face overheating problems when I perform a SSD-upgrade with similar computers of other brands like Dell, Asus and Lenovo. It looks like a definite HP-problem.

Thanks.
