HP Laptop - 14-fq0020nr
Microsoft Windows 11

I got notification that my laptop needed new Windows Update. Upon trying to upgrade my laptop according to the Windows 11, at approximately 37% install it stops and tells me there's not enough hard drive space. That I need more it recognizes the other internal hard drive that I added a one terabyte SATA hard drive. Tells me I need to take or add so much more gigabytes to the existing hard drive in order for the download to proceed I have deleted everything that I know anything that could be deleted I have no personal pictures I have nothing in it no files anything that it still does not say there's enough space to complete the windows upgrade. I'm just learning very new at all of this . I've tried to include pictures hoping that that would help with the explanation for it any help would be greatly appreciated.

@JamesB777,

One of your screenshots, titled 'Setup needs space to update,' reads, "External Storage Drive (D:) 945 GB free."

It appears that that the 1 TB SATA drive is recognized to be used to provide temporary storage for the Windows update. You can't proceed with this setting?

If the Windows setup doesn't use the SATA drive for some reason, try to connect a 16 or 32 GB USB drive to provides temporary storage space, as the screen shot states that Windows needs at least 10 GB free space from external storage device.

Windows is requiring me that the storage or the 10 GB have to come from the original drive. I've tried the USB drive and then also a two and a half inch external drive. And yes you're right it does recognize the internal drive but it won't put it all on there. Hope all this makes sense. I have deleted everything I have nothing personal in Windows at all no files no pictures I can't seem to come up with a space they're wanting anything that I could find it would be allow me to delete I deleted. I tried to reset it like when I originally got it but it was Windows 10 when I got the computer it won't go back that far and always wants to reboot right to the screens that I took shots of.

There's a way that you know of that I can just reset everything. Like it was brand new and I just bought it I don't have anything on there to lose or worried about. Meaning I took everything off. Again I hope all this makes sense I really appreciate you getting back to me appreciate your help. Look forward to hearing back again.

The USB drives I have are not high dollar does that make a difference again I'm just learning. They're scandisk, I believe. I tried at 32 GB I also had a 256 gigabyte. Neither of them works
