@ChaimF3,

As I informed earlier the battery backup time depends on the usage. The Chromebook 14 has 2 cell battery and the battery back may vary anywhere between 2-4 hours.

Please refer to the below link for the product specifications of the computer

@ChaimF3,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

The battery life depends on several factors. Below are a few factors which can contribute to battery performance.

NOTE: Battery cells suffer gradual, irreversible capacity loss with each discharge-charge cycle.

  • Temperature and discharge loads can impact battery performance and capacity.
  • Battery capacity can decrease even when the computer is unplugged from a power source and not in use.
  • During prolonged storage or non-use, the battery charge can decrease below its recommended low-voltage level. Discharging the battery below its recommended low-voltage level may physically damage the battery and result in the battery becoming unusable.
  • Leaving the battery at a high level of charge in a high-temperature environment for extended periods can accelerate the loss of performance and capacity.
  • The computer generates excess heat during high workload or if it is not properly ventilated. This temporarily impairs the battery charge and discharge rate. The battery function returns to normal when it cools to an acceptable operating temperature.
  • Using software for graphics processing or high-definition video accelerates the loss of performance and capacity. For example, playing 3D games decreases capacity faster than using word processing applications.
  • Your notebook configuration and power settings can impact your battery performance.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

Dear Tim,

Thank you very much. I truly appreciate the effort and detail that you put into your message. These are all factors that I am aware of.

What I was looklng for was either "HP rates the battery for x hours" or (since my major interest is in word processing with a Chromebook) something like "with word processing and light document file uploads to and downloads from Google Drive, expect about x hours".

One gives HP's rating and the other gives a user's experience. Either is OK for me.

This is a PRE-SALES question, and the answer with influence my purchasing this HP product, which I would prefer, or another manufacturer's product.

A link to an HP support document specifying rated battery life is also OK.

Once again, thank you very much for your thoroughness.

Thanks.

I marked your last reply "Accepted as Solution". The document to which you referred me specifies the battery as "2 cell", but did not give any time estimates.

@ChaimF3,

You're welcome!

Yes, I see that it doesn't specify any particular time, however, as I informed earlier you should get anywhere between 2-4 hours battery time based on the usage.

Cheers!
