I am wondering what the best way to upgrade the SSD in a 14-df0023cl laptop. I still have the 128gb it came with, but I am going to be taking design classes and will need to access Adobe Creative Suite products that eat up space and memory. I have just upgraded it to 16gb of RAM and want to speed it up and get it ready with a 512gb or more SSD. What kind of options do I have and how much can this laptop handle? I love this laptop and don't want to get a new one, just make this as powerful as I can. Thanks in advance!

Hi,
At the moment you have a 128GB M2 SATA3 SSD in the machine.
You can upgrade to an M2 PCIe NVMe SSD of your desired brand and capacity (no limit to capacity)
So something like the Samsung 970 Evo Plus would be considered the best. But even something cheaper and slower such as the Crucial P1 will be faster than the SATA SSD.
Example:
on page 41 of service manual you can see the steps to install the drive
http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06146792
you will then need to reinstall the OS on the new SSD. Which you can do by performing a clean install (prepare the USB drive before inserting new SSD)
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
or with HP cloud recovery
https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06162205
Just to let you know that the actual max RAM is 32GB even if service manual mentions 16GB.
Hope it helps,
David
