I updated the BIOS/UEFI to F.32  from F.24 and it was successful. For those, who have multiple operating systems (Windows 10, Linux, BSDs etc), make sure to make Windows boot manager as the default boot manager. No Ubuntu or BSD, as the BIOS update needs restarting for flashing. Make sure to check the md5sum of the downloaded executable, 100% charged and on ac power, no usb or any other peripherals attached. Make sure to create a recovery USB using the installer (in case!). Make sure to backup the BIOS image using the installer. These are the things I did before updating.

Note: Updating BIOS is not at all necessary and neither yields any performance leverage.

Hi all

For whatever it is woth here now.

I also updated the BIOS of my  HP-15BS576TX  unit

from BIOS ver F10.A  to F32.A, one week back.

No problem, everthinhg went smoothly.

But there is still some confusion with  AMD graphics drivers.

If I use the hp self-help site:

https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-15-bs000-laptop-pc/15551412/model/17033481

It says : "SP83937"  22.19.128.5 A p-17,  December 2017.

This is an updated version of SP81248 (22.19.128.5 A p-13), suggested by COE2K14, here.

SP83937 on installation goes smoothly, and is reported as

Radeon TM 520 ( 22.19.128.5,  17-05-2017 ) in Device Manager.

But if I use HP Support Assistant it installs a different AMD video driver:

whih is reported  as "AMD Radeon TM   R5 M330" (22.19.162.4 , 24-04-2017)  by  Device Manager.

???

As per some feedback I received, the AMD Radeon 520 is a re-branded launch of circa 2014 Radeon card (Radeon 7750 or later version). In Linux, with "amdgpu" open source driver, it is listed in Gnome as R5 M330 too. It is a GCN 1.0 architecture, obsolete for gamers, but enough for  hybrid graphics in this laptop which uses the hardware mux of integrated Intel graphics (if you understand) through which Dedicated Graphics (dGPU - AMD R 520) also renders. So, I think, for Windows, use  AMD ATI uninstaller (available in the AMD website) and uninstall graphics driver. Use, the HP provided AMD/Intel Switchable graphics driver. It will work. HOWEVER, If you look in Amazon India reviews, many are complaining that they are cheated as they think the hardware is R5 M330 instead of Radeon 520. I'm not an expert in this, though.

Hi everyone,

I know its a long time ago when this thread was created and I never replied to it even though my name was mentioned above by @Bhishmar, but still today I'm here and would like to ask u'll about the new release of bios for HP 15-BS576TX which was actually recently released on 16th of March 2018. Do you think that I should go for this update cause my laptop's motherboard was changed two times and I seriously don't intend to change it for the third time :smileyfrustrated:.

The link for new release :

https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-15-bs000-laptop-pc/15551412/model/1703...

Some of the details of BIOS I'm curently using,

BIOS Mode:  UEFI

SMBIOS Version:  3.0

BIOS Version/Date:  Insyde F.22, 24-07-2017

So, the BIOS version I'm at is "Insyde F.22"  and the newly released one is "F.35 Rev.A". Will it be okay if I update to the latest version. Help me out please.

Thanks & Regards

BIOS update should be done very carefully.
1. 100% fully charged and with AC adapter connected and powered on.
2. No USB devices connected to your laptop.
3. Make sure you have Windows 10 only. If you are dual booting with Linux, BSD etc, change the boot manager as Windows boot manager in BIOS settings.
4. Verify downloaded BIOS update using md5sum or sha256sum to ensure downloaded file is not corrupt.
5. Create USB recovery using BIOS executable, so that, in case BIOS update fails, you can restore old BIOS.

Okay I get that part. Should I or should I not update?

HP Recommended

No need to update. There is no performance benefits or optimizations there. Optimize your Windows or Linux operating system(s) for speed, instead. Good luck.

Alright thanks.
