I turned my HP 15-R006TU laptop to hibernate mode before going to sleep last night. Today morning when I turned it on left half of the screen was white with some lines in it. All the softwares and the OS works fine. Its like there is a white cover on the left side of screen. I can't access start menu because it is on the left side of screen.
I switched off my laptop and disconnected the adapter from it, then turned back on, but it remains same. I have not changed any drivers or anything recently. I have windows 7 ultimate 64 bit and I use Tata Photon Max dongle for internet. My laptop is only 2 years old. I did nothing that I can remeber to damage the laptop and Last I used it, everything was fine.
what should I do? How to fix this? can virus do this or is it display problem?
P.S. I noticed the left hinge that join the screen with keyboard part is a little loose..And screen resolution is affected is I move the screen
PLEASE HELP ME ....

It's hardware. Can you connect to an external monitor? If the output is OK externally then we have narrowed it down to a bad display cable or a bad screen panel. Much more likely the latter.
You have the 15.6 inch 1366 x 768 screen which is the most common type. Not very expensive and screen replacement is easier than you think. We will also need to assess the screen hinge issue and possibly replace the hinge.
Post back with the country you live in if interested in pursuing self-help repair. We can link you to a video and help you find the part.

No I do not have an external monitor. And without that I can't do the repairing myself can I !
So I will have to take it to the shop I bought it from then. And then to HP service center if they cannot help.
Thank you for the advices. I was very panicked yesterday.
Can you give me an estimate how much a screen will cost? The service center is far from home and I will not be free before sunday .
This problem, some say it will keep getting worse from here and I will have to repair frequently. Will I be better off if I just buy a new one?
I am from India, city Kolkata.

Here in the US a replacement screen is maybe $60-70US. No idea what they cost in India and particularly through an HP Service Center. Can't you borrow an external monitor? Yes, if you have to pay someone to replace the screen it is going to be better to just buy a new laptop.
