@Borg1of9,

 Your service manual states that your model's M.2 slot supports both SATA SSDs and NVMe SSDs.

HP Pavilion Power 15 Laptop PC* Model numbers: 15-cb000 – 15-cb099 Maintenance and Service GuideIMPO...

NVMe is a lot faster than SATA interface. Here are a couple of reputable NVMe SSDs. There are many other good ones, and you can choose any capacity you want, 500 GB, 1 TB or 2 TB.

Amazon.com: Crucial P3 1TB PCIe Gen3 3D NAND NVMe M.2 SSD, up to 3500MB/s - CT1000P3SSD8 : Electroni...

Amazon.com: Western Digital 1TB WD Blue SN570 NVMe Internal Solid State Drive SSD - Gen3 x4 PCIe 8Gb...

Page 43 of the manual shows the installation procedures for an M.2 SSD.

You can install Windows on an M.2 NVMe drive and use your current hard drive for data storage.
