The fan on this laptop has been goingon all the time and whining since I got it and I recently put HWMonitor which shows really high CPU temperature under minimal load. The temperature ramps up really quickly and the CPU is constantly throttling. It's not dust build up unless the HP factory looks like the inside of a hoover.
How can I contact support about this again?

Welcome to the HP Support Community!
I reviewed your post and I understand that the computer is overheating on minimal load.
Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.
I recommend you update the BIOS and the graphics driver from the below link and check if it helps.

Hi, thanks for your reply.
The problem exists on Windows and Linux and it's clearly due to the thermal design of the hardware. The laptop is not designed to be used with the screen at a slightly acute angle, which is the way I have to use it because of a back injury. I use it with a cooling pad and even that doesn't make any meaningful difference, because the exhaust is almost completely impeded by the bottom of the screen.

Thanks for the reply.
There is no chat or phone number option. The serial number is entered, the country is selected (UK), I am signed in and the only options are:
- Did you buy your product at Carphone, Currys, Dixons or PC World?
- HP Support Community
I see the chat option is available if I put the US in as a country, but the last time went to the wrong country they pointed me towards the broken UK section of the site.
