HP 15-da0011
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello

I have an HP 15-da0011 laptop (with Intel i3 CPU) with 4gb memory in.  I have tried to upgrade the memory by adding the correct spec hardware to the second slot and when I do, the laptop wont even power on to the BIOS.  The Caps Lock key light flashes 3 times slowly and then twice quickly and repeats this sequence.

I changed the original 4GB memory module for a new 8GB one and the laptop works OK, but everything I have read in the maintenance manual says I should be able to use both slots and I should be able to have 8GB and 4GB memory in there.

Can anyone help me work out whats wrong ?

Thanks

Dave

I also tried the original 4GB and the new 8GB memory modules in the second slot only and on both occasions the PC booted and I was able to check in the BIOS and it was recognised correctly.  The problem seems to be when I use two memory modules.
