HP Notebook - 15-da0077tx
Microsoft Windows 11

I currently own the HP 15-da0077tx laptop, which has 16GB (8GBx2) of RAM, but I find it slow. I plan to upgrade to 64GB by adding a single 32GB module initially. Later, I'll add another 32GB module. Will my laptop support 64GB of RAM?

The most possible memory you could install would be 2 x 16 GB of memory.

A 32 GB memory chip in one slot will not work.

The service manual indicates that only 2 x 8 GB of memory is supported.

You can confirm that 32 GB of memory is supported by running this command:

1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.

This will open the command prompt.

2. After the command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and press the enter key.

There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.

The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.

If you are going to install DDR4-2666 MHz memory, it must be CL19.

CL18 is too fast a timing for your notebook to support.

C:\Windows\System32>wmic memphysical get MaxCapacity, MemoryDevices
MaxCapacity MemoryDevices

It will display a maximum of 32 GB, indicating the maximum supported RAM capacity for a single memory slot. This implies that your system potentially supports a maximum of 64 GB of RAM (2 slots x 32 GB each).

No, it implies the maximum total memory is 32 GB, which would be 16 GB of memory in each slot.
